What is a walk belt?

Walk-belt is designed to provide support and stability during manual transfers, such as those between beds, chairs, wheelchairs and more. These belts are adjustable and comfortable to suit different client’s requirements. They are available in padded and plain models with non-slip lining for safety. The belt also features adjustable buckles and ergonomic handles that are strategically placed to allow easier handling and patient movement for the carers and therapists.

What are the benefits?

  • Increase confidence and trust in manual handling between you and the client
  • Reduce risk of falls
  • Support client’s stability and balance and allows carer providers to focus on the client rather than the lifting
  • Versatility for indoor and outdoor activities I.e. hydrotherapy pool, mobilising with or without walking aid depending on client’s level of function and risk of fall
  • Protects carers and therapists from work-related injuries as you are able to stabilise clients without the need to grip onto their bodies

Indications of Use

As care providers, if you have come across any client who demonstrates poor balance, unsteadiness and history of multiple falls during sit-to-stand transfers and walking, they will benefit from using a walk-belt. Depending on the level of support the client needs, the walk-belt remains easy to use by a single or even two carers if required.
